I recently purchased the Bodyguard 380. From initial impressions, it's a good firearm. Actually quite accurate for a 2.5" barrel, and I was impressed by the smooth cycle and reasonable recoil for a firearm so small. Also the slide only locks back on the last round about 1 in 4 or 5 magazines but locks back every time if you put a empty magazine in and rack the slide. I really like the extra capacity and today I finally pulled the trigger. It's dimensionally almost identical to my Shield, but the short mag holds 10 rounds instead of 7, and the longer mag holds 13 instead of 8. The 1700LS Classic Hunter was introduced in 1984 and also discontinued in 1984 when Smith and Wesson dropped the whole long gun line. The 1700LS was offered in .30-06, .270 and .243.Inserted guide rod/spring fine and ensured it was all the way down and even. Placed the slide on the frame, but could not get the slide back far enough for the slide lock to engage. Removed the slide and rechecked the guide rod/spring for proper fit, alignment, etc. Still could not get the slide back far enough to manually engage the slide lock..
